History of the World Wide Web

The World Wide Web was born back in the late 80's as a way for physicists to share information around the world by the early 90's the world wide wide was made a pubically available service on the internet although at this stage it was still primarily used by university based scientific departments or physics laboratories in 1993 the first browser capable to displaying graphics was launched and by mid 1994 there were over 2500 publically available websites by 1996 it was clear to all major companies that a web presence was neccesary. By 2002 high speed internet connections became more affordable and sites such as google, ebay and amazon were launched making the world wide web a much more user friendly enviroment and it has continued to grow into what we know today.
