A Domain name is used as part of a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) to make websites easier to find on the web it works my pointing a domains DNS settings (Domain Name System) to the IP address of a computer hosting a particular website on the world wide web so that each time that domain is called by a web browser it is redirected to that IP address and therfore displaying a website the reason for this is that domain names are much easier to remember than an IP address and in some instances one IP Address can host more than one website.
